text in the St. Jerome translation and in a good quality gothic hand,
50 lines, ruled in lead point. Rubrics in red, text capitals touched
in red. Two-line chapter initial in red with contrasting J
decorative flourishing extending the height of the page. Text is II
Maccabees 11:13 through 12:44.

text in a gothic liturgical hand with chapter heading in blue and gold
with red and blue penscroll tracery. Each of the columns is accompanied
by a full-length bar border sprouting ivy tendrils. Two-line versal
initials in blue on a ground of gold open chapters 2 and 3 of the gospel
of Mark. From a Bible once owned by St. Albans, England's greatest
royal abbey of the Middle Ages. Slight soiling.
