M3964 Annunciation to the Shepherds

A single leaf from a Book of Hours, in Latin, on vellum. Framed by a gold and pink fillet and set against a diapered background the arch-topped miniature shows two startled shepherds and their dog looking up towards a half-length angel, the sheep continue to graze. Influenced by the Boucicaut style of illumination. The miniature is mounted on a wood panel.
